Shangri-La Frontier season two has been given an official release date of October 13, when it will be available to stream on Crunchyroll.
The show, which follows a frustrated gamer attempting to find joy in the latest blockbuster release (a giant fantasy roleplaying game) was unapologetically online and genuinely funny – and also packed the animation prowess to sell some impressive action sequences.
And yes, we're burying the lede. The show's protagonist is a half-naked man with a giant blue bird head. But you get used to it, we swear.
For all those that missed seeing him in the months since Shangri-La Frontier was last on our screens, the show has released a teaser of what's to come. Here's everything we know about its return for season two.
Shangri-La Frontier season 2 release date: When does Shangri-La Frontier season 2 come out?
Shangri-La Frontier will be back for season two from October 13 at 17:00 JST for a two-cour broadcast, Crunchyroll confirmed during the Anime Expo 2024 industry panel.
If that wasn't enough to get fans excited for the second instalment of the anime show, we were also treated to a fresh visual of our cast of characters in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter).

Shangri-La Frontier season 2 plot: What will happen in Shangri-La Frontier season 2?
Shangri-La Frontier's first season roughly adapts the first 71 chapters of the ongoing manga version, itself an adaptation of Katarina's now-complete web-novel series.
At the time of writing, 170 chapters have been published which means that there's plenty of story left to tell in season two (and beyond, if it's renewed again).
The fact that there's this much source material left to adapt means there are plenty of spoilers out there for anime-only viewers, but we're going to avoid going into too much detail here.
What we can say based on the source material is that Shangri-La Frontier season two could kick off with a story arc that sees Sunraku leave the world of SLF and return to his previous favourite game.
The Nephilim Hollow arc is notably short in the manga, consisting of just five chapters, and is mainly noteworthy because it introduces two characters from Sunraku's past: Rust and Mordo.
After their reunion, Rust and Mordo make the transition over to SLF where they team up with Sunraku to hunt down a unique creature (and presumably get some sweet loot). This leads into the Nightslayer's Shadow arc, which is substantially longer, and sees Sunraku head on a one-way collision course with the Lycagon.
In case you've forgotten, Lycagon the Nightslayer was a terrifying creature Sunraku encountered right at the start of season one.
This encounter also had the unfortunate effect of bestowing everyone's favourite bird brain with Lycagon's Mark – aka the reason he's unable to equip any armour beyond those little blue shorts.
Shangri-La Frontier season 2 trailer: Any Shangri-La Frontier season 2 footage yet?
Shangri-La Frontier season two has been confirmed and with that welcome news came an official teaser trailer.
From the sneak peek, season two promises to be just as explosive and exciting as the anime's first outing – but we'll let you be the judge of that.
Shangri-La Frontier season one is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
