Test positive at home, negative at doctors - May 2016 Babies | Forums | What to Expect (2024)

I HAVE SAME ISSUE I TOOK 5 ALL POSITIVE WENT TO HEALTH DEPARTMENT AN WAS TOLD IT WAS NEGATIVE BUT IT COULD BE TEST . I AM NERVOUS EXCITED CAUSE I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A SECOND CHILD I DK WHAT TO DO I HAVE HAD WEIGHT GAIN EXTREME FATIGUE BACK ACHE INCREASE APPETITE U NAME IT I CRIED WHEN HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAID THAT I SPOTTED SOME DARK BROWN LAST MONTH NOTHING MAJOR BUT HAVE ALL SYMPTOMS NO INSURANCE N I BEEN PREAYING ALL THE SIGS ARE THERE I JUST DK WHAT TO DO

About 5 months ago I went to the doc. I’d missed two periods, couldn’t keep anything down for weeks, swollen chest and random crying spells. I wasn’t trying to convince but wasn’t using any contraceptives either. The first test looked negative in the time window, but after going out to run errands I came back to it still on the counter with the faintest hint of a second line. I immediately brushed it of as an evap but took one the next morning and got a faint positive within 3 minutes. Over the week I took 10 test, mix of different brands; all came back with faint but colored, even lines, and they got a little darker each day. Went to my appointment with a couple of my most recent tests in hand to show the doctor, as well as pics from when they were fresh. She dismissed it, as my urine test at the hospital had come back negative. She insisted I was probably just having symptoms due to extreme stress (someone in my family had just passed away unexpectedly). She gave me a pelvic exam and though I will admit I don’t have any experience with it the process seems /off/. Like she rushed through it, she pushed down too hard and too fast, enough to knock the wind out of me and feel like something ‘popped’ inside me. It aches the whole rest of the day. But she was still very insistent I was not pregnant.

That night I went out to dinner with some old friends and had a couple drinks, having even asked the doc specifically if it would be safe. I got a bit sick but overall fine. The next morning I almost fainted getting out of bed. I was dizzy and nauseous, and had pain that doubled me over. I started bleeding badly and was bedridden all day. I passed an embryo before the day was through.

I’ve been on birth control since, as this was not my first miscarriage and I’m incredibly fearful of having another. This month my placebo week came with no bleeding. I’m nauseous and having heartburn, as well as a lot of lethargy, but I refuse to go to the doctor unless I get a BFP out of panic doing so preemptively might once again cause damage.
